The architectural decor made of polyurethane is the optimal alternative to the traditional plaster stucco. However, the long life of the noble finish largely depends on the right choice and installation of products.

For the installation of the architectural decoration of polyurethane, special adhesive compositions are used, which take into account the high inertness of the material. With their help, the elements are glued to the ceilings, walls and combine each other. Photo: "Europlast"
The architectural decor made of polyurethane is obtained by pouring a mixture from certain components under pressure under pressure. When interacting, they expand (foam), and then hardening, forming a small-drying structure filled with air. Technological production allows you to achieve a clear surface relief and accurate geometric sizes of products. In addition, they are distinguished by sufficient strength and hardness, resistance to temperature fluctuations, immunity to moisture. The absolute safety of polyurethane for human health is due to its inertia. Eaves, moldings, outlets from this polymeric material are many times easier than gypsum, so they are easy to transport and store them, and the installation accompanies the minimum of dirt and dust. In our market, high-quality decor from polyurethane is represented by Europlast, NMC, ORAC Decor.

Polyurethane decor for hidden illumination
Before fastening the eaves for hidden lighting, you should choose the optimal distance from the ceiling to the cornice, so that this gap leaves the opportunity for a convenient replacement of lamps, as well as for regular dust cleaning. Photo: Orac Decor
Polyurethane is resistant to temperature fluctuations. Products from it perfectly feel in the range from -60 to 100 ° C. It is no coincidence that the eaves, moldings and polyurethane plinths are often used as elements of hidden lighting. The light source most often serve as luminescent lamps and LED tapes. The light flow radiated from the eye is reflected from the ceiling, walls, floor and dissipated by room. Thus, it is possible to achieve a uniform distribution of light and avoid a blinding effect. Current cost for hidden illumination size 55 × 57 × 2000 mm - 781 rub.

Classic ceiling pots of polyurethane have two mounting surfaces. For reliable fastening of these elements, a special adhesive. Heavy structures are additionally fixed by self-pressing for the polymerization of glue so that they do not slip down. A day later, the locks are cleaned. Carnisions intended for hidden illumination, the second mounting surface is absent. This circumstance should be considered when attaching. We recommend fixing the elements on a single mounting surface not only with glue, but also by self-draws, with a pitch of 600 mm, with a screwdriver. For hidden illumination, it is better to use eaves with the inside coated with foil. Such elements do not shine and optimally reflect the light.

Polyurethane in wet zones
Polyurethane is absolutely indifferent to moisture. Decorative elements of facade collections are used to decorate buildings outside and without restrictions are used when placing bathrooms, pools, kitchens. By the way, for the latter, it is very valuable that polyurethane does not absorb smells.
Elements of the architectural decor made of polyurethane, as a rule, white. When they are painted in the color of the walls, there is a small brush with a long pile, a roller paint is applied to smooth surface areas. Photo: NMC.
The main advantage of the CF1 model of the Wallstyl collection (NMC) is the possibility of mounting on the old plinth. Sizes of element 110 × × 22 × 2000 mm. It is waterproof, has a shockproof smooth surface with applied soil. Photo: NMC.
Complaints of consumers to the fact that after a while, the decor falls off or disagree the joints of the elements, usually arise because of the natural shrinkage of new buildings or improper installation, or rather, due to improper selection of glue. The fact is that the mounting adhesives for polyurethane products differ in the type of base in which the active substances are dissolved. In some are a water dispersion, in others - dispersion based on special polymers. In the polymerization of glue of the first type, the moisture should be out of it. Increased humidity in the room at this moment slows down the process and negatively affects the reliability of the adhesive connection. The polymerization of the cylinder of the second type, based on special polymers, occurs, on the contrary, due to the absorption of moisture. They are not afraid of them in the time of installation work, nor after. It is this type of adhesive that is used for mounting the facade decor.

Before installation, the architectural decor made of polyurethane is kept for 2 days indoors where it is planned to install it. Installation work is carried out at room temperature 18-25 ° C. The humidity of the base should not exceed 8%.
In the bathrooms during the cladding of the walls with ceramic tiles between the last number of elements and the line of fixation of the planned ceiling cornice often remains a small gap. You can make it simple and effectively using an additional molding. As a result of combining several elements of simple forms, an interesting design is obtained. It looks aesthetic, takes into account the features and functional tasks of a particular room, and after dyeing turns into a single finished architectural decor. I note that it is possible to create an elegant multi-tiered construction from high-quality, geometrically verified polyurethane eaves and moldings. Only such elements are well joined each other, without any fit, and a clear relief of lines and ornaments is preserved even after repeated staining.

Plintos from polyurethane
The plinth helps to arrange the joint of the wall and floor covering. In addition to decorative, it performs many other useful functions. First, protects the lower, the most vulnerable section of the walls from pollution and moisture during floor cleaning. Secondly, it closes the technological gap between the wall and the floor of the laminate, parquet and massive board, piece parquet, the linoleum necessary to compensate for the expansion of the coating with the changes in humidity and temperature indoor. At the same time, the plinth does not give to accumulate in this gap of dirt, dust and moisture. Hollow plinths serve as a kind of case for placing electric, television, telephone cables, hiding them from our eyes and preventing mechanical effects.
The plinths protect the wall from shvabra blows, the brush of the vacuum cleaner, children's toys, the legs of the chairs, etc., despite the fact that the products made of polyurethane waterproof, to achieve the best result, they should be covered with paint, which forms a stratum-resistant layer. Most polyurethane plinths are sold with applied soil, which greatly simplifies staining the next installation. Photo: NMC.
As for aesthetics, the interior of the room looks stylistically completed if you choose different elements of the architectural decor with the same ornament. It is no coincidence that many collections of polyurethane products include cornices, moldings and plinths. But if the first are in sparing conditions of operation, high impact resistance and ability to transfer various mechanical impacts are extremely important for plinths, let's say during regular cleaning.
High plinths, as well as painted in the same color as the walls, optically increase the height of the room. In the latter case, even elements of a complex profile will not break the overall interior stylist.
Using the elements of the architectural decor you can hide communications. In this case, the gas pipe passes behind the cornice and the decorative pilasty, the missing depth of which increased by another pilastry. Project Manager Sergey Nikitin. Photo: Andrei Skomorobenkov / Burda Media
For a long time to maintain the pristine-smooth surface and clear ornament lines are capable only quality products made of high density material: from 250 kg / m³ and more. But the greater the density of polyurethane, the naturally, above its cost. To combine practicality with an affordable price, the specialists of the EuroPlast company have developed and released a series of products, including plinths, from thermoplastic polyurethane (composite material). In such elements, a very high surface layer density (about 1000 kg / m³) and a smaller internal one. Composite plinths are essentially anti-vandal, and you need to try to damage them, especially at home. The difference in prices is very significant. If the cost of a polyurethane plinth size is 17 × 70 × 2000 mm - 1087 rubles, then the plinth from the thermoplastic polyurethane is just 400 rubles.

For staining of the decor from polyurethane, almost any paints are suitable, except for compositions with a large concentration of solvent. If any doubts occur, it is worth trying paint on an unnecessary segment. From the point of view of environmental ecology, water-based compositions are more preferred.
