The standard method of fastening the windowsill is adhesive. PVC products, wood or chipboard "plant" on "Liquid nails" for these materials, and stone - on silicone sealant or cement glue. However, with the width of the windowsill, more than 200 mm often requires alternative installation.
In houses with thin walls (panel buildings of the 1980s. And later) the supporting area is small - 100-120 mm, and the glue mount of the windowsill width over 150-170 mm is not reliable (we do not consider cases when the design has additional Backups - legs, couch). You have to jam the board with a window frame. The essence of the method is that the windowsill is not pressed to the window, but are cut for it to a depth of 10-40 mm, then aligned with lining and fixate foam. So you can fix the product from plastic, wood-polymer composite and wood, while ensuring high strength with a small contact area with the wall (½ and even ⅓ the width of the board). However, from under the lower bar, the window frame will have to partially remove the insulation (foam), which will increase the risk of the design of the structure, so the method is unsuitable for stone window sills with high thermal conductivity.
In houses with thick walls (single-layer brick and block) for reliable mounting of the window sill, there is enough glue, but the wide "step" interferes blowing the glass with air from the radiator, and the window often fades. To avoid this, it is desirable to provide ventilation clearance: install the windowsill on narrow dies (from plastic, CSP, antiseptic wood) 20-30 mm height, directed perpendicular to the window, and leave between it and the window of the gap (again 20-30 mm), Closing it with a narrow grille. Glue or mounting foam should be applied locally to not block the air channels, and the battery is decorated with a convection screen that guides the flow of warm air into the ventilation gap.
In Erker, one solid windowsill is often appropriate, and not a few - under each window. The complexity of the installation lies in the need for accurate fitting of parts stuck under indirect corners. When using standard wooden and plastic products, do not do without a tracing saw or stouch. A more costly option is to order a precast design of wood or artificial stone. In this case, the masters from a specialized company will remove accurate measurements and mounted the windowsill so that the joints of the elements will be almost imperceptible to the eye.
In the glazed loggia, where the windows are installed on a thin parapet, the reference site is practically absent. It is necessary to use metal consoles. They are suitable for any snap-made window sills and quickly mounted with screws and dowels.
