Rescue from the above misfortunes is able to become a kitchen air cleaner, otherwise called the hood. The devices may differ in such parameters as air purification technology, design, performance, noise level and, of course, the price. So, let's try to figure it out.
Aircraft or recycling?
You can get rid of smoke, soot and unpleasant kitchen "aromas" by two ways - removing contaminated air through the ventilation channel (mode of the air vent) or cleaning it using filters with a subsequent return to the room (recycling method).The first method is practically absolutely effective: the costs of culinary production are simply expelled from the kitchen. But to set the hood in this case will not be easy, since the smoke and unpleasant smells should be laid the road from the exhaust device to the ventilation mines or to the street (through the wall). This means that the installation of pipe-chimneys will be required. Specialists will need to install the instrument. Payment of their services will be an average of $ 20-30, for chimney pipes will have to post another $ 10 for 1Pog. M. Plus approximately $ 7 for 1Pog, if the customer decides to hide the air duct behind the plasterboard design.
Another important point: Hood creates a rather strong outflow of the air that needs to somehow compensate. The simplest solution is open a window or window. But, alas, even the most expensive and powerful device, working recycling, purifies air only by 65-70%. As a rule, the recycling mode of the air exchange is chosen when the connection of the device to the system of natural ventilation is impossible for any reason.
Almost all modern air purifiers can work in both of the same mode, but there are exceptions. So, relatively inexpensive and not very powerful embedded hoods are capable of functioning only recycling.
Parade models
Deciding with the most acceptable cleaning method, you can proceed to the choice of the optimally suitable for the kitchen of the design. So, what are the hoods.
Flat, or attached. They are installed on the wall under a special kitchen cabinet (it should be shorter than standard) or without it. As a rule, devices have not too powerful motors and function only in recirculation mode (K704R and S651T Turboair, CMD98X from Candy). It should be remembered that even if the hood is perfectly placed on the lower shelf of the locker, it is necessary to remove the air duct outside, otherwise the device will buzz and vibrate during operation, and the walls of the furniture are very quickly cracking from the walking inside the hot steam.
Embedded, or integrable. For example, K195SL601MW from Kaiser, 51sliInox from Electrolux. The hoods are decorated in the form of an attached locker above the stove, which allows you to save on the case materials (with equal technical indicators, the embedded devices are 10-20% cheaper than island and wall-mounted). They can be equipped with two motors and have a retractable panel, which significantly increases air intake area (DHI655V from Bosch, Li28030 from Siemens). This cottage class is not much more expensive attached, but more functional. Such models can work both in recycling mode and in the air ventilation mode.
Desktop. Installed next to the stove or embedded in the cooking panel (VL051 from GAGGENAU, 115DDM from AEG), operate in two recycling and aircraft modes. They can be an additional panel module, usually located between the stove and the grill. Similar models are distinguished by high efficiency - the immediate proximity of the exhaust to the "contamination source" provides good quality air purification.
Dome. Mounted on the wall above the stove (BRIO RD-BL-GMA90 from Faber, Lunaz900inox from SAZA). For the external similarity with the chimns of fireplaces, they are also called the hoods of a fireplace type.
Island. They are not attached to the wall, but to the ceiling (DH1050is from Turboair and ZHC928IX from Zanussi). It is especially convenient if the stove is located in the center of the kitchen. Such extracts are most often functioning in aircraft mode. The fact is that the way the method of installation of the device excludes the possibility of circulating - the air simply will simply be allotted. But technically island hoods, as a rule, can work in both modes.
Filters
Size matters
An important factor is the dimensions of the cooking panel, over which the air cleaner is installed. The extractor will work efficiently if its umbrella completely covers the surface of the plate. It is obvious that models with a width of an umbrella 60 and 90cm are the greatest popularity of buyers, that is, an equal width of standard cooking panels. Some difficulties may occur if the plate has a width of over 90cm-hoses with umbrellas 120cm and more than a bit: AH400-131 from GAGGENAU (90136cm), DA252-2 from Miele (50120cm). When choosing a suitable device, another performance indicator should be taken into account. It is measured by the amount of air that is capable of skipping through itself per unit of time. It is calculated VM3 / h. The low-power devices pumped 200-300m3 / h, more "running" (DA200 from Miele, 9060D from AEG) - about 500-750m3 / h. The mansion is the model AH400-131 of Gaggenau with a capacity of 1200m3 / h. Such a big difference in the indicators is due to the fact that the air cleaner must correspond to the size of the room in which it will be installed. Recycling is associated with additional load on the fan, as the air must be driven through another filter. In this case, there is a rather tangible drop in productivity - by 30-40%. For example, the maximum performance of the model DA217-1 (Miele) with a free tap of air is 705m3 / h, and when recirculated- 480m3 / h. Therefore, if the device will work recycling, this indicator must be clarified.

Additional functions
The hoods are equipped with a set of additional functions designed to make a "kitchen watch" as comfortable as possible. The first and main option is the lighting. The easiest and cheapest option is the usual incandescent lamps (KF61WH from Ardo). More advanced and expensive models you can meet halogen lamps that can bring lighting to natural lighting (EFC935X from Electrolux, IS50290XS from Kaiser), or a fluorescent lamps, characterized by high efficiency and long service life (AH400-131 from Gaggenau and DA216-2 from Miele) . In addition, in some devices, lighting can be adjusted. Thus, in the LC89950 from Siemens, the functions of changing the intensity of the light stream (Soft Light) and adjustment of the illuminated area (DIMM) are provided. Miele air purifiers are also equipped with similar systems (DA259-2, DA252-2), AEG (9050DM Katamaran), General Electric (JV750SISS). DN1021NST stem from Turboair light lights up not instantly, and smoothly. For convenience, the device is equipped with a remote control. By the way, the hood control can also be different-slider (lever), push-button, pseudo-axes (reacting to light pressed) and touch.Among the optional, but definitely, useful features can be called an interval inclusion system (in the hoods of LC75955 from Siemens and AH400-131 from Gaggenau), which starts the fan once a hour at low power, which creates a constant inflow of air into the room. This may be relevant if the natural ventilation system works badly.
The residual stroke button (in DKE995B, Bosch models, DA289, Miele) provides the fan operation of about 10 minutes after turning off the exhaust. Thus, even accidentally delayed "aromas" are removed from the kitchen.
Protective shutdown sensor (on LC75955, Siemens; EFC009X, ELECTROLUX) ensures that the extract is not overwhelmed, and the fat filter contamination sensor (in the DHI665G, Bosch model) prompts that the filter is time to clean.
Some devices have both unique abilities. For example, the control function from the plate using the air density sensor implemented in the LC75955 model (Siemens) is interesting. Ultrasonic density sensor determines the degree of contamination of heated air and automatically specifies the mode of operation for the exhaust. Another one-of-a-kind model-AH 600 from Gaggenau is equipped with a built-in air curtain: the fan takes part of the air into a special channel located on the front panel, and the resulting hood blows the stove. As a result, the steam rising from the prepared dish rushes into the field of the instrument.
Safety technique
The kitchen hood differs from ordinary forced ventilation systems primarily by what is dealt with heated and highly contaminated air. Working with such an aggressive medium, the device must be maximally protected. First of all, attention should be paid to the height of the umbrella. The lower above the slab mount the hood, the better it will catch the evaporation and smells. But do not forget that if this distance is too little, then the danger of overheating of the device and even its fire, because fat and soot can inevitably accumulate on the filters. It is idly doubly cautious if the gap panel is gas-fire can flash from accidentally fluttered spark. In love, the distance between the air purifier umbrella and the cooking panel should be at least 65cm for electric plates and 75cm for gas. Hood must be grounded. Silence of calm
The unconditional dignity of the drawing is the quiet job. It is important to remember that this indicator directly depends on the power of the instrument: the higher it is, the louder it works. Almost all samples of known brands comply with European quality standards, therefore, even among relatively inexpensive models, the noise level indicator does not exceed 70DB.
"If it is assumed that the extractor will work in the air removal mode, you need to pay attention to how the air duct is laid. The bends, turns, the narrowing of the pipe reduce the efficiency of the device. The fact is that the extract must miss a certain amount of air per hour. The extra obstacles on the path of the flow makes it "gain momentum", creating additional vibration and noise.
The material from which the air duct pipes is also important. Dense cardboard pipes are cheap, but are short-lived. Foil is more practical, however, during the operation of the device, it can be quite loudly rustling. Perhaps the most acceptable option is a PVC box. Their rectangular shape allows you to pave pipes under the suspended ceiling or hide behind the kitchen cabinets, or even leave in sight, light plastic will not rush into the eyes and does not break the interior design. "
Surov law, but the law is the law
Installing the kitchen hood running in the air removal mode, sets the consumer before another problem - ventilation of residential premises.
At all on 2.08.01-89 * "Residential buildings" (clause 3.2.) It is said: "In residential buildings, heating and ventilation with natural motivation should be provided ...". Appendix No. 4 reads: "... extractor from the kitchen is not less than 60-90m3 / h (depending on the type of slabs)."
If there is a ventilation channel in the apartment, then warm air is rushed up and outward through it. Which is colder on the street, the more air is removed in the canal. In the summer, the natural motive simply does not work, and may even give the reverse effect of the so-called tipping of ventilation. Therefore, in the new standards of Moscow (MGSN 3.01-96) there is a next item (paragraph 5.9.): "In residential buildings, a device for influencing and exhaust mechanical ventilation or air conditioning is allowed."
The laconicity of this wording allows its interpretation as the ability to create an exhaust system with a fan removing air from a separate room. In other words, the legality of connecting the kitchen exhaust to the ventilation system can somehow prove. But from a practical point of view, things are not so good. Cerage, our ventilation channels are not too suitable for these purposes. GIVILES The system of natural air exchange is designed for a certain amount of air removed in natural conditions, which means the free influx of air and its unobstructed care to the vent hole. Based on this position, air ducts and mines of the corresponding section are manufactured.
Such a settlement system does not imply an installation of the thrust, which is the exhaust fan. The volume of air drawn through the kitchen umbrella is quite large (an average of 250-600m3 / h), and this may entail a violation of the aerodynamic balance. AESLI air cleaners are installed in several entrance apartments, there is a risk that the entire system of natural ventilation will be blocked. However, even in the off state, the extractor creates barriers to air movement. Solve this problem is designed by a special ventilation channel, designed for kitchen exhaust. They are equipped with some houses built, but, alas, only an elite type.
All of the above does not mean that it is impossible to establish an extract in a city high-rise building in principle. By the current case, you can always purchase a model or with a recirculation mode or with adjustable performance, or with an emission of an air to the street through a wall valve.
Covers and country houses The problems of the air duct devices are significantly simplified - the builders are much more possibilities for maneuver, and the troubles that may arise from exhaust umbrellas do not apply to the neighbors' dwelling. But in this case it is useful to provide two independent ventilation channels in the kitchen: one for overall ventilation, another, for exhaust.
