This unique outdoor coating is a bit rough to the touch and made of natural vegetable fibers. It stacked just like carpet, but only in dry rooms.
Sizal coatings included in the return of coarse natural materials are often confused with coatings from coconut fiber - probably due to their brown and exotic origin. The origin of Sizal is not connected with any coconut, nor with a palm tree, this is a Mexican decorative plant - agawa, from the juice of which they make a strong drink mescal.
Cables and threads are flying from Sizal fibers, of which durable and fairly cheap floor coverings are made. Sometimes of this material make furniture items, such as office chairs. But after processing a special composition against contamination, sisal becomes more sensitive to water and spots than coconut fibers.
The sisaline coating (in the case, the almira brand of the company Udirev) is made with a thickness of 4-5mm and 4m width, and is sold with a 1-millimeter latex substrate. You can find not only brown and ocher colors, but also more alive, including two-color. In the manufacture of reference edges, the coating can be trimmed with a cord or contrast.
Purchase and laying
The sisal coating is bought with the following calculation: the necessary dimensions + 5% of the allowance from all sides. Before sticking to the floor, the coating is entered into the room and is left at room temperature for 48 hours. Special glue based on synthetic resin-resins is sold in tanks of 0.9-20kg (in the case, it is recommended to use PVA glue). This glue is also well suited for PVC and fabric coatings with latex base.
The glue must be applied at a temperature of 18-22c, for one reception, it should be restarted with laying several square meters so as not to rush, carefully attach and gently stick the desired piece, in particular, along the plinths. After that, the surplus is trimmed with a universal knife. Finally, the glue dries after 3-4 days, after which the plinths and threshings are attached.
Measure the floor in length and width from one wall to another, including all niches, for example, the battery. Take advantage of the 5-meter tape measure, it will facilitate the operation.
Clean the half-first vacuum cleaner, and then by some domestic detergent (such as a washing powder "Myth"). Rock it with water and dry the floor.
Estate the sisal and wrap over the walls along the wall. After that, leave it to "stretch" at room temperature for two days to avoid surprises.
Wrap the edge of the coating to smear half the floor area with glue. It is necessary to stick at first only half of the coating to have time to sprink it well.
Glue in this 14-liter bucket is ready for use. It can be poured directly on the floor along the wall along the length of the room at a distance of approximately 50cm.
Then immediately distribute the glue with a wide spatula. Try to avoid its clusters in one place. The glue consumption is approximately 250-300g per 1 m2 floor.
Attach the sisal to the smeared floor, trying for its lower side well impregnated with glue. Then, smooth the coating with a wooden bar (be extremely neat-sisal is rather fragile), driving air from the middle to the corners of the room.
Do the same from the second half of the room. Insoles with walls and under plinths, highly press the sisal to the floor with a narrow spatula.
The blade of the universal knife moves along a plastic spatula for sticking outdoor coatings, which in this case is used as a limiter line.
To wake the floor in a niche, cut sisal a little bit to the outside, on the form of each corner. Be careful, do not cut too much, and also do not rub the coverage underly below! Measure the depth of the surface that you need to cover, transfer the measurement to the sisal and cut through the metal line. Then repeat the measurements and cut the edges. Finally, impose a sisal on the floor-melted floor and thoroughly smash.
Since the surface of the wall is lined with plasterboard, plinths are attached after the sisal is pasted. They are pre-painted and cut off in size, and glue mastic or neoprene gel glue.
Apply glue only on the plinth, press to the wall and immediately tear off. Wait a few minutes until the solvent evaporates, and already finally glue the plinth to the desired location, it is well pressed along the entire length.
Care
Carpets and flooring from sisal, coconut fiber or jute should be vacuumed daily (like carpet). More thoroughly cleanse them every six months dry shampoo or powder. Never use washing vacuum cleaner! If the water randomly spilled onto the coating, immediately assemble it with a blotting paper, and the wet plot dries on the hair hairdryer.
