Founders of Design Studio Geometrix Design Michael and Helen Miroshkin shared with IVD.ru with advice on the right use of geometry in the organization of space.
1 Use a dynamic layout principle
In contrast to the static principle of planning, where the usual straight corners "stop" a look, which cannot rotate 90 degrees, in the dynamic deployed walls and beveled corners direct movement on. So the desire to move forward appears. This is the principle of dynamic layout.
Michael and Helen Miroshkin often apply it in their projects. For example, if the apartment implies a long lounge, then they do not create direct angles at the end point, but unfold the walls so that there is no impasses feeling.
Michael Miroshkin:
In this case, the lines serve as a guide to look, we do not rest in extra corners, not looking for the exit of the labyrinth of the rooms, the logic of geometry itself suggests and directs traffic. Halls we try to deploy to the windows.
More complex tasks often stand up: allocate individual additional zones that do not fit into the standard space. Then the walls unfold in such a way as to add spaces an important room identifies less priority zones. This technique works fine on zoning, since direct layout does not always cope with complex tasks.
Helene Miroshkin:
If a room is planned in a room, for example, an angle for the wardrobe is distinguished inside the right form room, then we also try to make an external angle and thus visually expand the passage of the passage.
2 Consider the geometry when designing furniture
Designers note that the furniture should be harmonious layout. At the same time, it can take on the function of the color and / or light accent. This can be a completely mirror wardrobe, which visually increases the space, the bright chair of an unusual shape, which will attract the attention of guests, or a bar counter in the kitchen, able to charge energy and a good mood at the end of the working day.

A simple linear storage system may turn to the basis of the composition, in an integer art object, if you add dynamics of lines.
3 Choose the island for the kitchen
If it allows the area, Michael and Helen advise to establish an island in the kitchen, which can combine the role of the dining area and the cooking zone. Looking forward to the models in the form of a trapezoid: they are more functional.

By changing the familiar rectangular shape of the table on the trapezoidal, you can immediately solve two problems: visually expand the dining area for the passage and functionally provide the width of the table for the cooking area.
4 Consider the geometry in selection of finishing materials
