In the cold climate, this style is infrequently used, and this is a wonderful way to add the house atmosphere of the sun and the sea. We tell what elements are needed for this.
1 plastered walls, finishing with a pronounced texture
Natural round stone bright colors is the most suitable option. More budget - plastered walls, you can apply Venetian plaster. It is also possible to use tiles with a pattern on the wall pieces (we will return to this below). But the wallpaper in the Mediterranean interior is inappropriate.
2 Arches
If you are not against free planning in the apartment and you do not need sound insulation, instead of interior doors you can put false arches from polyurethane or drywall.
3 Color gamut inspired by nature
Strive to use colors resembling southern nature, sun and sea: sand, beige, white, light blue, sea wave, lavender, wood, blue, orange, terracotta. Walls are better made by light and monophonic. Monochromatic, that is, close to the shades, the color scheme can be combined with contrasting and bright colors in accents. Monotonous interiors sometimes dilute with bright items in Moroccan style. Do not leave the ceiling white so that it contrasted with the trim, it is better to paint it beige in the tone of the walls.
4 Wooden beams on the ceiling
This sign of the traditional house has ceased to be used at the beginning of the 20th century, when the need for ceiling floors disappeared. But the need for a nostalgic finish is not doing anywhere, so today you can buy ready-made dark brown beams from polyurethane, imitating wood. This technique is also used when creating interiors in the style of Provence and Loft.
5 Soft sofas and armchairs with pillows
The interiors in the Mediterranean style should have rest and siesta. In your living room, it must be enough space for recreation, large and soft textile (but not leather) sofas. They are often complemented by garden furniture, such as chairs and rattan chairs to create a sense of patio in the house. In bedrooms are often used beds with wooden poles or with baldichanes of light fabric.
6 Natural Materials
Refer to wood, stone, textile, skin, rathang, wrought iron, ceramics. But about plastic it would be nice to forget, although modern interiors make exceptions. It is not necessary to use a linoleum or laminate as an outdoor cover, a parquet or ceramic tile will look better.7 Tile with pattern and mosaic
Patchwork tile is great for interiors in this style. You can use it in the kitchen in the apron zone and in the bathroom, as well as in the dining area. It is often encountered and on the table top of the coffee tables in the living rooms. Also justified on the walls of the tile, imitating tiles. The "fish scales" in marine shades is also used. You can choose a tile with plant motifs - it will be reminded of Arabic influence, which is noticeable in the Mediterranean region. You can make a mosaic yourself, using a broken mirror.
