Today we will tell about one of the unconventional ways. This is a water treatment with a magnetic field, which is used mainly to combat science. This method is characterized by simplicity, cheap, safety, environmental friendliness, low operational costs. The water underwater does not acquire any side, and even more so harmful to human health properties, does not change the salt composition and retains taste. Magnetic processing devices appeared more than 40 years ago. Recommendations for their use are given in a number of SNIPs regulating the operation of heat points and networks. (Another non-traditional method, which is something like akin to magnetic exposure, is a radio frequency water treatment. He is so new that there is no mention of it in any Snip.)

Water and magnetic field

From the very beginning it should be emphasized that the processes occurring with water in a magnetic field are studied little, therefore there is no single slender theory in this case. However, there are several hypotheses of the impact of the magnetic field on the ions of salts dissolved in water. In our opinion, the following is most clear (we give it in a simplified form).

Water molecule can be represented as an elementary dipole particle with positive and negatively charged poles. Under the action of the forces of mutual attraction, the dipole of water form so-called clusters, and not by themselves, but uniting around the microparticles present in the water and the impurities ions (in our case CA + and CO3-), without giving them to interact with each other. When the water is heated, the cluster structure is destroyed, and the ions, connecting, form calcium carbonate Caco3, which is deposited on the heaters and pipes, creating the basis of scale.

What happens when the magnetic processing of cold water? When the water dipoles pass through the magnetic field, the Lorentz power acts on them, which causes dipoles to perform oscillatory movements. Of course, if a magnet is one, then dipoles will make one oscillation, and it will not lead to the destruction of clusters. But if the magnets are somewhat and arranged so that at a short distance the magnetic field changed the direction more than once (this principle is implemented in devices on permanent magnets), or if the processing is carried out by a variable magnetic field (with electromagnetic effect), then the probability of the decay of clusters increases.

The microparticles released in the destruction of clusters become as if crystallization centers, which are preferred to be precipitated from the ions of the SAS3 molecule. Next, the process acquires avalanche-shaped characteristic of the surface of the resulting microcrystals, all new molecules are attached. Thus, the CACO3 crystallization occurs in the volume of water, and as a result, instead of a solid pyro-called amorphous calcite, fine particles of aragonite appear, which have completely different than scale, crystalline structure. They migrate along with the stream and can be easily removed using an ordinary filter. When the water is heated, the size of such particles increases, but the scale is not formed.

But on this tricks do not end ... Calcium ions begin to stand out from the already scattered scale and join the newly formed microcrystals floating in water. As a result, the old scale is loosened and is even completely washed off from the surface of the pipes and heating elements (deletion of deposits occurs gradually and takes from 1 to 4-6 months). Moreover, over time, a thin dark film is formed on pipes and heat exchangers, consisting of higher iron oxides (Fe3O4, Fe5O6), which protects equipment from corrosion (the rate of corrosion reaction, as confirmed by experiments, decreases by 40-75%).

From theory to practice

How to implement magnetic protection in practice? In apartments, such devices should be installed on entering both hot and cold water. Covers with autonomous heating systems and hot water supply - in the introduction of cold water. It should be borne in mind that the effect of magnetic processing is manifested during a certain time (from 8h to 5 days, during which the so-called water relaxation occurs). It should be especially emphasized that magnetic devices are not a panacea when solving the problem of rigid water, and cannot be considered softener filters and are not suitable for processes where soft water is required. They only activate (convert) water, leaving its chemical composition practically the same as the impact, and in most cases only help prevent the formation of scale. The modern Russian market offers two basic types of apparatus for magnetic water treatment - with permanent magnets and electromagnets.

Permanent Magnet Devices

These devices have a relatively simple design, do not consume electricity and differ in absence of problems associated with electrical safety and repair with electrical test of windings. They are easy to install and maintain, are characterized by high reliability and durability.

Structurally, they consist of a cylindrical housing made from a magnetic material (serves as a magnetic core and closes the field inside the machine), and inside its magnetic element. On the ring gap between them and the water passes.

It is worth noting that the device described only seems to be easy to create it is necessary to carry out the most complex calculations. First, the ring gap between the body and the magnetic element is obliged to have a strictly defined value, which ensures the specific flow rate and its magnetic permeability. Now, the cross-sectional area of ​​this gap (estimated by the diameter of the conditional passage) should be comparable to the area of ​​the pipeline passage in which the device is embedded, so as not to cause the hydraulic resistance and the pressure drop in the system. Secondly, it is necessary to design the geometry of cone tips and centering crosses to the gap flow of water in the gap during the pressure range to which the device is calculated (it is indicated in the passport), was exclusively laminar (not vortex), otherwise the processing efficiency will be reduced repeatedly. Thirdly, the magnetic element is designed to provide the necessary magnitude of magnetic tension in the gap, as well as create a magnetic field, which, when moving from the pole, changes the direction to the opposite, with a strictly defined number of times, otherwise it will not be a sense of processing again .
